In the process of conducting research on miniature binoculars, their design, their manufacturers, and their distribution channels, our on line museum collection purchased a good number of examples of vintage distributor catalogs that contain miniature and other binoculars, and posted excerpts relevant to miniature binoculars on the pages entitled “VINTAGE ADVERTISING”. These catalogs are really quite difficult to find and to obtain, so it seemed a shame not to share them in expanded form as a research resource, particularly since the whole premise of an on line museum is to maximize accessibility to information. And I know all too well how difficult researching binoculars normally is. So I am presenting those catalogs that we have and I am acquiring more to scan as a public research source, covering pre 1980s binoculars of all types, and including monoculars, telescopes, spotting scopes, and rifle scopes when they happen to be in the catalogs.
